Secretary for the Environment visits US

    Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, will leave tonight (January 15) for a three-day visit to the west coast of the United States.

     He will first fly to Los Angeles where he will meet the Lieutenant-Governor of California, as well as government officials, academics, think-tank experts and business leaders to exchange views on how to improve air quality and tackle climate change.

     In Sacramento, Mr Yau will meet government officials in charge of energy and environmental protection. Mr Yau will address business luncheons in both Los Angeles and Sacramento on Hong Kong's environmental efforts.

     In San Francisco, Mr Yau will visit renewable energy facilities, including a wind farm and solar panel systems.

     Mr Yau will return to Hong Kong on Sunday (January 20).
