Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tai Po this morning (January 14) in which a 13-year-old girl was injured and later died in hospital.
About 12.40am, a private car driven by a 22-year-old man was travelling along Bride's Pool Road towards Tai Po. On approaching Chung Mei, the vehicle lost control, hit a lamp post and bounced back to the carriageway.
The driver and two 13-year-old female passengers in the back seat were injured and taken to Alice Ho Nethersole Hospital (AHNH) for treatment. One of the passengers was later transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital and was certified dead at 11.13am. The driver was in a stable condition and the other passenger was critical.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic New Territories North are proceeding.
