Long service medals and clasps are being awarded to 449 disciplined staff of the Hong Kong Immigration Service in two presentation ceremonies.
The first ceremony was held today (January 11) and the second will be next Friday (January 18).
Officiating at the first presentation at Immigration Headquarters today, Deputy Director Mr Peh Yun-lu expressed his appreciation to award recipients who had dedicated long years of loyal service to the department, with exemplary performances.
The award of the Hong Kong Immigration Service long service medals and clasps is to honour those with exemplary character and conduct who have given long and meritorious service as members of the Immigration Service.
Principal Immigration Officer Mr Mak Kin-ming, Assistant Principal Immigration Officer (Harbour Sub-division) Mr Lau Man-hin, and four other officers were awarded the third clasps to their medals for 33 years of dedicated service with the department.
The second clasps, signifying 30 years of service, were presented to Chief Immigration Officer (Staff (Support) Section) Mrs Donna Man Chan Wai-sum and seven other officers. Senior Immigration Officer (Systems Support (Applications and Investigation) Section) Mr Wong Tung-keung and 117 other officers received the first clasps, marking 25 years of service, while 93 other officers received the Hong Kong Immigration long service medals which marked 18 years of service.
Mr Peh congratulated recipients of the awards and thanked all staff for their support in the smooth implementation of various department projects and measures. In the face of challenges ahead, he said Immigration colleagues would continue to demonstrate their esprit de corps and perseverance in striving for continuous improvement of the service provided to the public.
