The third quarter 2007 issue of the Quarterly Supplement to Statistical Digest of the Services Sector is published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) today (January 9). This issue is now available for download (in PDF format) free of charge at the website of C&SD (www.censtatd.gov.hk/products_and_services/products/publications/index.jsp).
This issue of the Quarterly Supplement provides up-to-date quarterly statistics (from the second quarter of 2006 to the third quarter of 2007) on 14 major service industries/domains of Hong Kong presented in the Statistical Digest of the Services Sector.
In this issue, two feature articles entitled "Foreign Affiliates Trade in Services Statistics for Hong Kong" and "Development of the Telecommunications Industry in Recent Years" are also included.

With increasing globalisation of the world economy, it becomes popular for firms of an economy to deliver services to customers in another economy through setting up affiliated companies abroad. In view of the growing importance of services supplied via this mode, C&SD has launched studies on developing the statistical framework for compiling the relevant statistics. This feature article introduces foreign affiliates trade in services statistics for Hong Kong.
Article on "Development of the Telecommunications Industry in Recent Years"

Hong Kong has one of the most sophisticated and successful telecommunications markets in the world. This has been an important factor in Hong Kong's development as a leading business and financial centre. This feature article describes the performance of the telecommunications industry in Hong Kong during the period from 1996 to 2006 and its recent development.
The print version of the aforesaid publication will also be available for sale at HK$58 per copy in mid-January 2008. Purchase can be done in the following ways :
