Combining traditional and contemporary circus, theatrical and dance techniques, two dancers in colourful costume from Arabesque Aerial Theatre of the United Kingdom will perform aerial dance and acrobatics.

Other programmes include orchestral concerts, artistic skating, rhythmic gymnastics, choral singing, Argentine tango, trampolining, rope skipping, jazz and cheering dance, music by live bands and hip hop dancing.

Local singer-songwriters will bring fresh notes, while roving entertainers will greet visitors to the carnival and amuse them with performances.

There will also be games stalls and illusion houses to add to the fun of the carnival.

To celebrate the advent of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the hosting of the Olympic equestrian events in Hong Kong, seven lanterns of Fuwa Huanhuan, a Beijing Olympics mascot, on horseback will be set up at the carnival to provide photo opportunities for visitors. A 3D cinema will also show excerpts of equestrian events and other sports, and a laser show with sporting elements will be staged at the countdown.

The public is urged to help keep the public areas clean and to respect public property. Aerosol sprays, metallic balloons and bottles are prohibited at the venues.
