The "Special Topics Report No. 47" on social statistics is published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) today (December 27).
The report contains the findings of a special enquiry on "Labour mobility" which was conducted by the C&SD via the General Household Survey during July to September 2006.
This enquiry targeted at the following categories of persons: (i) persons in the local labour force at the time of enumeration but were not in the local labour force a year earlier (i.e. they entered the labour force during the 12 months before enumeration), regardless of whether they were in Hong Kong a year earlier; and (ii) economically inactive persons aged 15 and over at the time of enumeration who were in the local labour force a year earlier (i.e. they left the labour force during the 12 months before enumeration). Information was collected on their socio-economic characteristics and their reasons for entering or leaving the local labour force.
The report includes findings of the above enquiry with some 20 statistical tables and charts. Users can download this publication free of charge at the website of the C&SD (www.censtatd.gov.hk/products_and_services/products/publications/index.jsp).
