New Shun Lee Estate Public Library provides better services

    The Shun Lee Estate Public Library will be relocated tomorrow (December 28) to 3/F, Shun Lee Tsuen Sports Centre, Shun Lee Tsuen Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon, and will offer a better, more comprehensive library service to residents in the district. The library, currently located on the podium floor of Lee Foo House, will be closed on the same date.

     The 628-square-metre new Shun Lee Estate Public Library is four times the size of the old one.

     Other than the adult lending library, childrenˇ¦s library, online public access catalogue and internet/electronic resources workstations, new facilities and services include a newspapers and periodicals section providing 70 newspaper and periodical titles, an extension activities room, childrenˇ¦s multimedia terminals, self-charging terminals and book drop service. It is also the first library in the urban region to provide express check-in service during opening hours.

     The adult lending library and childrenˇ¦s library have a combined initial stock of about 60,000 items including Chinese and English books, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, directories, compact discs and CD-Roms.

     In addition, extension activities such as storytelling for children and book displays will be organised regularly to promote reading.

     The Shun Lee Estate Public Library opens from 10am to 7pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It closes at 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, 1pm on public holidays and closes all day on Thursdays.
