24 building plans approved in October

    The Buildings Department approved 24 building plans in October - 8 on Hong Kong Island, 4 in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 10 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, 4 were for commercial developments, 1 was for factory and industrial developments and 9 were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 19 building projects that, when completed, will provide 120,436 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,495 units, and 56,155 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 19 building projects.

     The department also issued 15 occupation permits - 7 on Hong Kong Island, 4 in Kowloon and 4 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 145,181 square metres, involving 2,333 units, and 59,398 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in October totalled about $2 billion.

     In addition, 8 demolition consents involving 8 building structures were issued.

     The department received 1,997 complaints against unauthorised building works in October, and issued 2,057 removal orders on unauthorised works.
