The Transport and Housing Bureau today (November 28) welcomed the completion of the Legislative Council's negative vetting procedures of the Rail Merger Ordinance (Commencement) Notice.
"The merger will benefit the community as a whole. It could create synergy and enhance economic effectiveness, which would benefit the passengers. We welcome the completion of the Legislative Council's negative vetting procedures for the Rail Merger Ordinance (Commencement) Notice. The rail merger will be implemented on December 2," a spokesman for the Transport and Housing Bureau said.
"The railway companies are ready for the merger and have announced the operational and fare arrangements for the merger date¡¨, he said.
"Starting from day one of the merger, 2.8 million daily rail passenger trips will benefit from fare reduction."
