The following is issued on behalf of the Liquor Licensing Board:
Members of the Liquor Licensing Board, led by the Chairman of the Board, Mr Felix Fong, visited a number of premises with liquor licences in Mong Kok, Yau Tsim and Central districts early this morning (November 25).
The visit was to enable Board members to better understand the operation of different types of premises with liquor licences and enforcement actions by the Police.
During the visit, members were briefed by the Police on various issues related to the regulation of premises with liquor licences, including crowd control, traffic flow, law and order, safety, nuisance and disturbance to the quiet enjoyment of residents in the neighbourhood.
From January to October this year, the Board issued 691 new licences and renewed 5,255 liquor and club liquor licences.
Participants in the visit included Board members Ms Mar Yuet-har (Vice-chairman), Mr Chan Chit-kwai, Mr Cheung Fo-tai, Mr Chu King-yuen, Mr Ho Hin-ming, Miss Lam Chui-lin, Mr Lee Chee-wah and Mr Wong Koon-man, as well as Deputy Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (Environmental Hygiene), Ms Alice Lau.
