Hong Kong's infrastructure, talent pool and location reinforced Kadokawa's decision to set up in the city.

Kadokawa Intercontinental Publishing (Asia) Ltd today (November 23) announced the launch of the Walker magazine series from Japan, the HongKong Walker magazine. The company has formed a partnership with the Intercontinental Group 'Kadokawa Intercontinental Group' to publish light novels, comics, books and HongKong Walker magazine.

Mr Tsukamoto Susumu, CEO & President of Kadokawa Intercontinental Publishing (Asia) Ltd, said: "Hong Kong has become a more vibrant, dynamic city since its reunification with Mainland China in 1997. HongKong Walker reflects this international dynamism."

Mr Simon Galpin, Associate Director-General at Invest Hong Kong, welcomed the company's decision to start operations in Hong Kong. "Hong Kong is Asia's media hub. The city is one of the world's largest TV and film content exporters, and publishes over 49 newspapers and 722 periodicals. We value our free press, our freedom of expression and our free flow of information, communication and expertise. Hong Kong offers both the creative freedom to develop the best editorial and programming content and also provides stringent copyright protection. An ideal platform for creative development," said Galpin.

Kadokawa Holdings started in Japan in 1945. Today, the company commands a leading position in Japan's multi-media market and was the first cross-media corporation to be listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Kadokawa's operations include film production and distribution, print publications, game development, cinema management and information technology.

Invest Hong Kong is the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government department charged with encouraging and facilitating inward investment into the city by providing the support needed to establish or expand a business presence here. For more information: www.investhk.gov.hk.
