Malaysia poultry import applications resumed
********************************************

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced today (November 22) that the processing of applications for importing poultry meat from Malaysia would resume with immediate effect.

The Centre suspended processing of applications in June, following confirmation of a highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 case on a poultry farm in the country.

"In view of the control measures taken by Malaysia and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decide to resume processing of applications," a CFS spokesman said.
