The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, today (November 22) began his first official visit to Vietnam by meeting senior government officials and leading figures in the financial services sector in Hanoi.
Professor Chan called on Vice-Minister of Finance, Mr Tran Xuan Ha, the Vice-Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Mr Phung Khac Ke, and the Chairman of the State Securities Commission, Dr Vu Bang. They exchanged views on the development of the Vietnamese and Hong Kong financial markets. Professor Chan also met key figures in the banking sector to promote Hong Kong as the premier capital formation hub in Asia and investment opportunities in Hong Kong.
Tomorrow (November 23), Professor Chan will deliver a keynote speech at an IPO in HK Conference in Ho Chi Minh City. He will also call on senior municipal government officials and visit the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.
Professor Chan will return to Hong Kong tomorrow night.
