About 618,000 registered electors in the Hong Kong Island geographical constituencies should have received poll cards informing them of where to vote in the Legislative Council by-election on December 2.
A total of 97 polling stations across Hong Kong Island will open from 7.30am to 10.30pm on polling day.
"The majority of electors may vote in the same polling station they used in the District Council Election on November 18," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office said today (November 22).
"Nevertheless, for various reasons, some of the polling stations are not available for the by-election."
Electors are urged to take a look at their poll card to ensure that they go to the correct polling station.
The Registration and Electoral Office has mailed to every elector a poll card, a map indicating the location of the designated polling station, a guide on voting procedure, a leaflet from the Independent Commission Against Corruption on clean and fair elections and a leaflet introducing the candidates.
"If electors have not received the materials, they can make enquiries through the election hotline at 2891 1001," the spokesman said.
The location map enclosed with the poll card specifies clearly whether the polling station is accessible to electors with mobility difficulty. Most of the polling stations are accessible to the disabled. An elector with a disability finding it difficult to access his designated polling station can apply for re-allocation to another polling station.
"Applications for re-allocation to another polling station should be made to the Registration and Electoral Office by telephone (2891 1001) or facsimile (2891 1180) on or before November 27," the spokesman said.
The list of polling stations and more details about the by-election are available on the election website at www.elections.gov.hk.
Eight candidates are contesting this by-election.
