The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Michael Suen, this (November 19) morning visited the YWCA Hioe Tjo Yoeng College in Kowloon City to see for himself the teaching and learning environment at the school.
On his arrival, Mr Suen attended the schoolˇ¦s morning assembly and a solemn flag raising ceremony. He then took the chance to share the joy of learning with some Secondary 7 students during a sharing session.
Mr Suen was impressed by the school's efforts in imparting knowledge to students and organizing activities outside the classroom to nurture studentsˇ¦ self-confidence and encourage their active pursuit of knowledge.
He listened to views of frontline education workers during a tea gathering. The teachers also expressed their views on their continuing professional development and workload.
During his stay at the school, Mr Suen observed a mathematics lesson of a Secondary Two class and a history lesson of a Secondary Seven class. He was pleased with the students' active participation in group discussions.
