*********************************************************

The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose SK Lee, said on November 16 (Moscow time) there was plenty scope for closer cooperation between Russian and Hong Kong law enforcement agencies.

Speaking after meeting his Russian counterparts responsible for customs and immigration, Mr Lee said both Russia and Hong Kong would clearly benefit by working closely in law and enforcement areas that were of mutual concern.

Mr Lee met the Head of the Russian Federal Customs Service, Mr Andrei Belianinov, and the Director of the Russian Federal Migration Service, Mr Konstantin Olegovich Romodanovsky during his first official visit to Moscow.

Mr Lee also reaffirmed the need for Russia and Hong Kong
to work out ways to facilitate travel convenience for people of the two places.

"Both Russia and Hong Kong authorities agree that greater travel convenience for people from both places will enhance the economic, social and cultural ties between Russia and Hong Kong," he said.

Mr Lee will fly out of Moscow on November 17, arriving Hong Kong on November 18.
