A total of 247 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 178 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation by Traffic Kowloon East yesterday (November 8).
The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7am and 11pm and 163 officers from Traffic Kowloon East and District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at traffic accident blacksites and potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.
Another 184 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.
Verbal warnings were given to 118 pedestrians and 96 drivers who committed jaywalking and other minor traffic offences. Pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to the road users.
Statistics revealed that 1,881 traffic accidents had occurred in Kowloon East Region from January to October, 2007.
