Travellers urged to vote for courteous immigration officers (with photos)
************************************************************

The Immigration Department is appealing to travellers to vote in the annual courtesy campaign at Hong Kong's 11 immigration control points.

A spokesman for the department said that the campaign would be conducted from November 19 to 25. "The campaign aims to encourage staff to provide courteous and efficient service to the public, and will also help promote Hong Kong tourism," he said.

"Travellers may vote for control officers performing commendable immigration clearance services for them. They can get a ballot form from the staff, fill in their own names, travel document or Hong Kong identity card numbers, date and the officer's name, and then put the forms into the ballot boxes placed behind the immigration counters at the control point."

With the e-Channel service available at the 11 control points, e-Channel users can vote for staff members who are helpful and courteous in assisting them to use the automated service," the spokesman said.

The campaign will be publicised at the immigration control points during the voting period.

The Immigration Control Officer who gets the highest votes will be appointed Hong Kong Courtesy Ambassador by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
