SEN visits Japan (with photos)

    The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (November 6) called on the Minister of the Environment, Mr Ichiro Kamoshita, to exchange views on environmental protection during the second day of his visit to Japan.

     Earlier, Mr Yau gave a keynote speech on "Striking a Balance between Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development" at a luncheon supported by Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives).  The luncheon was attended by more than 100 business leaders and corporate managers.

     In the morning, Mr Yau also met with the directors of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to be briefed on the cityˇ¦s automotive pollution control and waste management.

     At the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Mr Yau exchanged views with the Director-General, Mr Harufumi Mochizuki, on the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

     Mr Yau also called on the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Japan, Mr Cui Tiankai.
