Hollywood blockbuster to film Hong Kong skyline and Victoria Harbour
************************************************************

Hong Kong's magnificent skyline and the well-acclaimed Victoria Harbour have attracted another major Hollywood production to film here.

Warner Bros. Pictures has sought the assistance of the Film Services Office (FSO) of the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority in shooting the film Batman: The Dark Knight in Hong Kong in the coming week.  Director Christopher Nolan and producers of the film scouted all over the world for a city that had the right dynamic and architecture, and found Hong Kong the ideal location. The filming part of Hong Kong represents the first time in Batman¡¦s adventures out of the fictional Gotham city.

The Hong Kong skyline will be showcased, for the first time, in the state-of-the-art IMAX camera technology. There will be a C-130 aircraft flying over the Victoria Harbour between 3pm and 7pm during November 6 ¡V 9, as well as two helicopters low-flying over the land areas, including the West Kowloon, Causeway Bay, Central and Western district, between 7am and 11pm during November 6 - 12.

The formation flying of two filming helicopters will be done for the first time in Hong Kong. The FSO appeals for the public to support this film shooting. In particular, it wishes members of the public in the areas under the flying paths to be tolerant and understanding towards the possible noise nuisance arising from the low-flying helicopters during filming.

Filming activities, including those by overseas film production companies, bring tangible benefits to Hong Kong. Films for international release will help showcase Hong Kong to an international audience and would generate other economic benefits e.g. promoting tourism.  Moreover, overseas film production may bring in new technology and facilitate exchanges, hence benefit the local film industry.

The Film Services Office was established in April 1998 to promote the local film industry and to facilitate film production in Hong Kong.
