Secretary for the Environment Mr Edward Yau will pay his first official overseas visit to Japan from today until Wednesday (November 4-7) to promote Hong Kong's environmental protection efforts and to see advanced waste incineration and clean vehicle manufacturing technologies in Japan.
Mr Yau will meet senior officials from the Ministry of the Environment, the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to exchange views on environmental protection, energy policy, promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency.
He will visit advanced waste incineration facilities in Tokyo and Osaka, and a car production centre in Nagoya.
Mr Yau will also deliver a keynote speech at a luncheon seminar supported by the Keizai Doyukai on Hong Kong's approach in striking the balance between environmental protection and sustainable development.
