Local musicians to salute Beethoven

    The concert "Salute to Beethoven", presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be staged at 8pm on November 26 (Monday) at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall.

     The all-Beethoven programme includes Sonata for Piano and Violin in A, Op. 47; Duo No. 3 for Clarinet and Bassoon in B-flat; Sonata for Piano and Horn in F, Op. 17; and Quintet for Piano, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon in E-flat, Op.16.

     Six local musicians will give the concert a dynamic presentation of Beethoven's works. Ma Cong is recognised as one of the Hong Kong's finest young pianists. Apart from  Hong Kong, he has given recitals in Australia, Canada, the United States, Japan, Singapore, mainland China and Macau.

     Lo Ka-yi, a renowned local violist, has won many prizes including the Ruggiero Ricci Prize and Exxon Scholarship.

     Other performers include oboist Yiu Song-lam, bassoonist Cheung King-lun, horn player Lee Siu-lam and clarinetist Choy Kwok-tin.

     Concert tickets priced at $150 and $100 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. (Limited tickets for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
