The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Frederick Ma, will depart Hong Kong this Sunday (November 4) for a week's visit to the United States and Canada.
He will first fly to San Francisco where he will address a business conference organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (San Francisco) and meet business leaders to promote Hong Kong as a premier business and financial hub in Asia.
During his stay in Washington, D.C. from November 6 to 8, Mr Ma will call on the U.S. Trade Representative, congressmen, business leaders and academics to update them on the socio-economic situation in Hong Kong. He will also speak at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business and address the US-China Business Council at a breakfast roundtable.
In Toronto, Mr Ma will meet government officials and business associations to promote business opportunities in Hong Kong. He will deliver a keynote speech at a luncheon hosted jointly by the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association and the Empire Club.
On November 10, he will meet his ministerial counterpart during a short stay in Vancouver.
Mr Ma will return to Hong Kong on the morning of November 12.
