The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (November 1) visited the Olympic Village of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the National Stadium to see their environmental facilities.
This is Mr Yau's first visit to Beijing since assuming his current post. During the visit he called on Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, National Development and Reform Commission, and State Environmental Protection Administration.
He also called on environmental protection and energy departments, including Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, State Electricity Regulatory Commission, State Oceanic Administration and the Ministry of Science and Technology. They exchanged views on various concerned issues.
Mr Yau will conclude his four-day visit to Beijing and return to Hong Kong this evening (November 1).
