The Electrical and Mechanical Services Trading Fund (EMSTF) made steady progress in 2006-07 with overall improvements in financial performance and it remains positive about its business as Hong Kong's economic recovery continues to gather momentum.
In its annual report for 2006-07 published today (October 31), the EMSTF recorded revenue of $3.293 billion, representing a return of 11.3%, which was 1% higher than the 10.3% in 2005-06, reversing a downward trend in the past four years.
The Trading Fund's General Manager and Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services, Mr Ho Kwong-wai, said that in 2006-07, the EMSTF celebrated its 10th anniversary and won the Gold Award of the Hong Kong Management Association Quality Award competition. It also set up a technology centre at the headquarters as a hub to promote the use of innovative technologies to clients, and launched the Corporate Computer System, an Enterprise Resource Planning system that would significantly enhance the operating efficiency of EMSTF as a whole.
The EMSTF commissioned a study on Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) asset replacement as part of its strategy to enhance its services to clients, and also to respond to the Government initiative to study the general replacement strategy of aged E&M assets on government premises to meet modern day requirements.
"To cater for the growing demand for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services in government, the EMSTF made a strategic move in 2006-07 by forming a new Electronics and Data Communication strategic business unit, to scale up its ICT capabilities as well as to capture more business opportunities and provide better service to clients," Mr Ho said.
Mr Ho said that EMSTF would continue to invest in fortifying its engineering expertise and capabilities in line with technological advances with a view to further enhancing its quality services to meet client demands. In full support of the Government's energy efficiency initiatives, EMSTF would continue to provide engineering advice and input to help clients implement E&M-related energy saving systems, as well as renewable energy projects.
