Three Immigration Department officers have been awarded the Director's Commendation for outstanding performances. Another 27 officers have been awarded the Assistant Directors' commendation at a presentation ceremony at the department's headquarters today (October 26).
The three officers awarded the Director's Commendation are Acting Senior Immigration Officer Mr Stephen Lau Wing-kei and Senior Immigration Assistant Mr Sammy Lee Yip-shung of the Special Investigation Section, and Immigration Officer Trainee Miss Vivian Yim Man-wah. They were commended for their contribution leading to the break-up of a syndicate and successful conviction of the mastermind and her accomplices.
A department spokesman said Mr Lau displayed outstanding leadership, judgement, planning and co-ordination skills in the investigation into a case of unlawful alteration of Mainland exit endorsements and Hong Kong immigration condition stamps. Mr Lee's exceptional professionalism, alertness and tact in the investigation, and Miss Yim's tactful skill in statement-taking and devotion displayed in the investigation also contributed to the successful conviction and imprisonment of the mastermind and syndicate members.
Director of Immigration Mr Lai Tung-kwok congratulated all award recipients and praised them for their exemplary performances. Mr Lai said he believed that officers would continue to demonstrate their esprit de corps in the challenges ahead and strive for continued improvement in services provided to the public.
