The Government announced today (October 26) appointments to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).
Five new members, Ms Shirley Chan Suk-ling (Managing Director of YGM Trading Limited), Dr Michael Chan Yue-kwong (Chairman of Cafˆm de Coral Holdings Limited), Mr Ko Chi-sum (Chief Executive Officer and Producer of Spring-Time Group Limited), Mr Larry Kwok Lam-kwong (Managing Partner, China, Mallesons Stephen Jaques and the former Vice Chairman of the Consumer Council) and Mr Stanley Hui Hon-chung (Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Airport Authority) are appointed for three years from November 1, 2007.
Mr Ronnie Ho Pak-ting, Mr Lo Sui-on, Mr Frederick Lam Tin-fuk and Dr Chan Wai-kwan have been re-appointed as members of the HKTB for three years with effective from November 1, 2007.
Dr James Tak Wu, Mr Yu Pang-chun, Mr Michael Hui Koon-man, Mr Tang Kwai-nang and Prof Andrew Chan Chi-fai have served the HKTB for six years and will retire.
"We are very grateful to the retiring members for their past service on the HKTB. During their terms of service, they have demonstrated strong commitment and provided valuable contribution to the development of the HKTB into a professional marketing-oriented organisation which has delivered quality marketing and promotion of Hong Kong as the premier tourist destination in Asia. We have benefited in no small measure from their wisdom and advice," Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Frederick Ma, said.
"We look forward to working with the new members in developing sound marketing strategies and enhancing the corporate governance of the HKTB in the years ahead," Mr Ma added.
The appointment to the HKTB is made by the Financial Secretary under section 9(1) of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, under delegated authority from the Chief Executive. The composition of the HKTB with effect from 1 November 2007, will be as follows:
