Appointments to the Advisory Committee on Travel Agents

    The Government announced today (October 26) appointments to the Advisory Committee on Travel Agents (ACTA).

     Ms Vivien Chan, and Mr Chan Kin-por, have been re-appointed, respectively, as Chairman and Member; and Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Mr Anthony Lau Chun-hon, has been appointed as Member of ACTA. Their term of appointment will last for two years with effect from November 1, 2007.

     "We welcome the new member Mr Anthony Lau Chun-hon. We look forward to working with ACTA members to further develop the travel trade for the benefit of the travelling public and inbound visitors," a Government spokesman said.

     ACTA is a statutory body established under section 7 of the Travel Agents Ordinance (Chapter 218). ACTA advises the Government on matters relating to the regulation of the travel agent trade and on issues affecting the interests of the travel trade and the consumers.
