The list of 907 validly nominated candidates for the 2007 District Council Election was gazetted today (October 25).
Candidates in 41 of the 405 constituencies have been elected unopposed. The remaining 364 seats in the 18 District Councils will be contested by 866 candidates.
About 480 polling stations will be open from 7.30am to 10.30pm on the polling day on November 18 for about 2.96 million registered electors to cast their vote, a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office said.
The remaining 336,874 electors in the uncontested constituencies registered on the 2007 electoral roll do not have to vote, he added.
