Hong Kong Film Festival begins in Tokyo (with photos)
*****************************************************

Four movies reflecting the latest trend of film development in Hong Kong will be shown in the Hong Kong Film Festival in Tokyo from today (October 23) to Thursday (October 25).

The film festival is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Tokyo (HKETO) and the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the film festival, the Principal Representative of the HKETO, Mrs Jennie Chok, said Hong Kong was considered by movie makers, both local and overseas, to be an excellent location for filming, because of its unique cityscape and rich East-meets-West cultural tradition.

"Each year Hong Kong receives about 150 production crews from abroad who come to work on movies, music videos, television series, documentaries and TV commercials," Mrs Chok said.

"In Hong Kong, we also have first-rate artistes and technicians, state-of-the-art facilities and high quality services for film production, and an environment conducive to free artistic creation," she said.

The four films include three new movies that will be shown for the first time in Japan. They are "Triangle", jointly directed by Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam and Johnnie To and starring Louis Koo, Simon Yam and Sun Hong Lei, "Invisible Target" starring Nicholas Tse, Jaycee Chan and Shawn Yue, and "Blood Brothers" starring Daniel Wu and Shu Qi.

The fourth film, "After This Our Exile", directed by Patrick Tam and starring Aaron Kwok, won the Best Asian Film award in the Tokyo International Film Festival last year.

The three directors Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam and Johnnie To and actors Louis Koo. Nicholas Tse, Jaycee Chan and Shawn Yue attended an opening ceremony at Tokyo Bunkamura today to kick off the Hong Kong Film Festival.
