IOC and BOCOG delegation sees Olympic city dressed-up in harbour cruise (with photos)

    About 20 members of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Coordination Commission and of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), who are currently visiting Hong Kong, tonight (October 21) heard from the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, Hong Kong's plan to promote the Olympic spirit and the community involvement activities, and the city dress-up that will be carried out along the two fronts of Victoria Harbour during a tour of the harbour.

     The delegation was shown part of the dress-up programme promoting Olympic messages in Hong Kong, which is a co-host city of the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

     Also joining the tour tonight were the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mrs Carrie Yau; President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Mr Timothy Fok; the Chief Executive Officer of the Equestrian Company, Mr Lam Woon-kwong; the Executive Director of Corporate Development of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr Kim Mak; Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Mr Anthony Lau; and representatives from a number of government bureaus and departments.

     The IOC delegation, headed by the Chairman of the IOC's Coordination Commission for the Beijing Games, Mr Hein Verbruggen, arrived in Hong Kong today for a two-day visit.

     During the second day of their visit tomorrow (October 22), the IOC delegation will tour around the Olympic Village accommodation facilities and equestrian venues in Sha Tin and Sheung Shui, where the Beijing 2008 Olympic and the Paralympic Games equestrian events will be held.
