No chloroxylenol found in bottled tea samples
*********************************************

In response to the incident involving a nine-year-old boy who was admitted to hospital for observation after reportedly consuming a bottled tea bought from a supermarket, the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) is investigating the case in collaboration with the Police and the Centre for Health Protection.

"The CFS today (October 13) took nine samples of different products of the same brand, including the product concerned, from various retail outlets for tests. No chloroxylenol (an ingredient of antiseptic) was found in any of these samples," a spokesman for the CFS said.

"The CFS has asked the supermarket from which the boy bought the bottled tea to stop selling the product in its whole chain of stores. We have also visited the factory of the supplier and taken samples for further tests."

So far, apart from this case there are no other similar reports associated with the bottled tea.
