With the approach of Christmas, a festive season for exchanging greetings with friends and relatives, Hongkong Post is inviting children to write to Santa Claus in advance.

Some already send letters and cards to Santa Claus in Christmas season, and Hongkong Post hopes to encourage children to develop the habit of letter writing. To this end, the Postmaster General, Mr Tam undertook to personally deliver 50 letters to Santa Claus in Finland when he pays a duty visit to Finland Post in early November. While in Finland, Mr Tam will also attend a ceremony to mark the issuance of the "Hong Kong, China - Finland Joint Issue on Fine Woodwork" stamps on November 2.

Any person who sends a letter to "Santa Claus, c/o Hongkong Post, 2 Connaught Place, Central, Hong Kong", with return address in English on their envelopes no later than October 24, will have a chance of having a reply sent from Finland. If there are more than 50 letters, Hongkong Post will draw lots to determine those to be carried personally by the Postmaster General to Finland.
