Government response to media reports

In response to media reports today (October 9) that principal government officials had recently met with a potential candidate in the Hong Kong Island Legco by-election, a government spokesman said that it was the government's responsibility to communicate with various sectors of the community and to listen to public views in order to improve its administration. The Legco by-election in December is a topic of public concern. If potential candidates wish to reflect their views to the government and present their recommendations, the administration is willing to communicate with them.
