The dance drama "Private Landscape" by Manna Dance is a hybrid of realism and surrealism with soundscape, video, monologue, physical expression, singing, light and shadows; a tapestry of an eccentric world with tension and suspense.
Dancers Aaron Wan, Sheng Peiqi and vocalist Owen Wong will take audiences through the passage of love and share the experience of overcoming challenges throughout one's life.
Manna Dance was founded by Aaron Wan in 1994. The company works to reveal the significance of dance and its value as a means of human expression within a culture and society.
The title of Manna Dance is taken from the word "manna" which means a miraculous food, or a situation in which some fortuitous event occurs. In this case the metaphor can be seen as both dance and art being a food that feeds and nourishes the human spirit, and dance being a fortuitous event. Manna Dance's philosophy is to be a generative catalyst for the growth and nurturing of choreography in Hong Kong.
Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Private Landscape" by Manna Dance will be staged at 8pm, November 9 and 10 (Friday and Saturday) at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall.
