A turbot sample collected by the Centre for Food Safety (CFS) was found to contain trace amounts of nitrofurans and chloramphenicol.
CFS officers collected the fish sample from a fish stall in Lau Fau Shan, Yuen Long.
"The level of nitrofurans and chloramphenicol detected was 0.0042ppm and 0.0005ppm respectively. Based on the levels detected, normal consumption would not pose adverse health effects," the spokesman said today (October 8).
"The CFS has issued a warning letter to the stall owner concerned, who was also asked to stop selling turbot. If there is sufficient evidence, it would consider taking out prosecution," a CFS spokesman said.
