Appointment of vice-chairman of Consumer Council

    The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development has appointed Mr Ambrose Ho as vice-chairman of the Consumer Council for two years with effect from Sunday (October 7).

     Mr Ho is a Senior Counsel and has been a member of the Consumer Council since January 1, 2003. He has served on a number of committees of the council and is currently the vice-chairman of the Publicity and Community Relations Committee.

     "Over the past four years, Mr Ho has demonstrated strong commitment in consumer protection work and has provided valuable advice to the council. We are confident that his professional knowledge and enthusiasm in public service will continue to be of tremendous value to the council. We also believe that Mr Ho will be able to assist the chairman in leading the council to uphold its key role in protecting the interests of consumers," a government spokesman said.

     Mr Larry Kwok has been the council's vice-chairman for six years and will complete his term tomorrow (October 6). "We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr Kwok for his distinguished contribution and strong commitment to the council," the spokesman said.

     Mr Ho's appointment is published in the Gazette today (October 5).
