District Council operation suspended

"The operation of the 18 District Councils will be suspended from tomorrow (October 2) to December 31, 2007 to facilitate the holding of the third ordinary election of District Councils," a spokesman for the Home Affairs Department said today (October 1).
In accordance with section 28(2) of the District Councils Ordinance (Cap 547), the suspension was declared and gazetted by the Director of Home Affairs on August 31, 2007.
