SFST visits Sai Kung District (with photos)

    The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, today (September 27) visited Sai Kung District to gain a better understanding about the latest developments in the district.

     Accompanied by District Officer (Sai Kung), Mr Peter Chan, Professor Chan first visited the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society's Tseung Kwan O (South) Integrated Family Service Centre in Kin Ming Estate. He was briefed by the Executive Director of the Society, Mrs Cecilia Kwan, on the one-stop integrated family services provided for residents in the area. The services included volunteers service, family counseling, support services for new arrivals and family mediation service.

     Professor Chan was deeply impressed by dedication of staff members at the centre who were preparing meals to be delivered to the elderly in the area. The Secretary was also shown the service provided under the Intensive Employment Assistance Project at the centre.

     Professor Chan next toured a shopping plaza in Tseung Kwan O where he chatted with shopkeepers and residents.

     Later Professor Chan went to Sai Kung Town Centre where he was briefed by District Planning Officer of Islands and Sai Kung, Mr Michael Chan, on the proposed ¡§Town Square¡¨ project and the infrastructural facilities for tourism development in the area.

     Before ending his visit, Professor Chan met with members of the Sai Kung District Council at a tea reception where they exchanged views on various community issues.
