Officers of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (September 25) shut down an unlicensed food factory in Kowloon City.
Acting on information, department officers raided a premises at rear lane, 162 Pau Chung Street this afternoon. A man was arrested and charged with operating an unlicensed food factory.
Fifteen cooked chickens, 15 kilogrammes of raw pig offals and some cooking paraphernalia were seized in the operation.
Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

"We will continue our stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food businesses to safeguard food safety and public health," a department spokesman said.
"People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
