Carnival-goers enjoyed the Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival tonight (September 25) at Victoria Park showcasing a series of entertaining programmes and spectacular lanterns.
Among the attractions were the Ethnic Arts Parades presented by the Chinese Ethnic Arts Troupe. Renowned ethnic artists from all over China performed traditional dance and indigenous music of the Mongolian, Tibetan, Miao, Korean, Yi, Tujia, Uygur, Dai and Han groups. The parade was complete with traditional handicraft demonstration and the ethnic costume show.
Other programmes were traditional stage arts show, nostalgic games, lantern quiz and fortune-telling.
To add lustre to the occasion, spectacular lanterns including a 10-metre spectacular lantern "Harvest Harmony" were on display and filled the park with festive atmosphere.
People can enjoy the spectacular lantern displays "10 Brothers Dance with the Dragon" at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza until October 21. The displays are made up with an 80-metre long dragon lantern and 10 life-size lanterns of "10 brothers", who symbolise the concerted efforts of Hong Kong people.
Another spectacular lantern displays, the "100 Creatures Gather and Glitter", are being staged at West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade until October 1. The displays showcase lanterns in the shape of 10 types of creatures, among which is the eye-catching Fuwa Huanhuan, the mascot of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, riding on a horse and ready for the Olympic equestrian events to be held in Hong Kong next year.
Free shuttle buses service will be provided from Kowloon Park (Austin Road entrance) to the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade at 15-minute intervals today and tomorrow (September 25 and 26) and on September 29 and 30 (Saturday and Sunday) from 6pm to 11pm.
Furthermore, all entries including the winning designs of the 2007 Mid-Autumn Lantern Design Competition are now on display at the Exhibition Gallery, G/F, Hong Kong Central Library until September 29.
