Mid-Autumn Festival special traffic and transport arrangements

    The Transport Department will implement special traffic and transport measures from today (September 24) to Wednesday (September 26) to facilitate Mid-Autumn Festival activities and the Fire Dragon Dance in Tai Hang.

     A Transport Department spokesman said that from 6pm to 11pm daily today, to Wednesday, road closures and suspension of metered parking spaces in Tai Hang will be implemented to facilitate the Fire Dragon Dance.กจ

     "The arrangements include a part-time pedestrian scheme, road closures, suspension of car parks, parking spaces, taxi stands, public light bus stands and special prohibited zones all over Hong Kong Island and the New Territories. Special traffic arrangements will be implemented in areas such as The Peak, Repulse Bay, Shek O and Stanley. The police will also implement road closure and traffic diversion arrangements depending on conditions," he said.  

   There will also be special arrangements for public transport services and the details are as follows:

  -  MTR Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line, Tseung Kwan O Line and Tung Chung Line will run overnight tomorrow (September 25) to the following day.

  -  KCRC East Rail's last northbound and southbound trains departing from Tsim Sha Tsui Station and Sheung Shui Station respectively tomorrow will be extended to 2am the following day.

  -  KCRC West Rail's last northbound and southbound trains departing from Nam Cheong Station and Tuen Mun Station respectively tomorrow will be extended to 2am the following day.

  -  KCRC Ma On Shan Rail's last northbound and southbound trains departing from Tai Wai Station and Wu Kai Sha Station respectively tomorrow will be extended to 2.32am and 2am respectively the following day.

  -  The last departures for some LRT routes tomorrow will be extended to 2.30am the following day.

  -  The Peak tram service tomorrow will be extended to 2am the following day. The frequency of services will be adjusted subject to passenger demand.

  -  The tram service on September 25 will be extended to 2am the following day. The frequency of services today and Wednesday (September 26) will be increased subject to passenger demand.

  -  Special extensions of operating hours, suspension/relocation of bus terminuses, route diversions and special routes will be made by bus companies.

  -  Some green minibus (GMB) services will be extended and some routes will be diverted.

  -  Ferry services will be enhanced according to passenger demand.

     People are advised to plan their route early, use alternative routes and allow more travelling time to cater for unexpected delay.  They should also pay attention to the information on the latest traffic situations broadcast via the mass media.  
 
     "As there will be partial or full road closures and traffic diversions on the affected roads, people are advised to make the best use of public transport services to avoid congestion and unnecessary delay," the spokesman said.

     "On-site police officers will implement the traffic and transport measures in phases according to the prevailing crowd and traffic situations at the vicinity. Drivers should avoid driving to the affected areas. Even so, they should drive with patience and follow police directions."
