Hin Tin Swimming Pool Phase II opens (with photo)
*************************************************

Residents in Sha Tin district can enjoy indoor heated public swimming facilities this winter with the opening of Hin Tin Swimming Pool Phase II, which is under the management of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Officiating at the opening ceremony today (September 24) were Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Mr Thomas Chow, Chairman of the Sha Tin District Council Mr Wai Kwok-hung, Vice-Chairman of the Community Sports Committee Mr John Fan Kam-ping and Project Director of the Architectural Services Department Mr Wilson Lee Hung-wai.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Chow said the population of Sha Tin district was increasing. To meet the increasing demands of the public, the department has been keen to develop new facilities to provide more diversified leisure services for the well-being of the residents.

He said the department would continue to organise various leisure activities and competitions, such as swimming and lifesaving training classes, for the public on a regular basis.

Located at 68 Che Kung Miu Road, Sha Tin, the facilities of Hin Tin Swimming Pool Phase II include an indoor main pool measuring 50 metres by 25 metres and a 100-square-metre indoor jacuzzi. Both provide heated water service in winter. A sheltered corridor is built to connect the pool and the changing rooms, so swimmers can keep warm in winter.

The swimming pool is also designed to adopt maximum natural light. It not only saves energy, but also provides a natural and comfortable environment for the swimmers.

Phase I and Phase II of Hin Tin Swimming Pool is open daily in three sessions: 6.30am to noon, 1pm to 6.30pm, and 7.30pm to 10pm, except from 10am to 6.30pm every Thursday for the weekly cleaning operation.
