SJ visits Wong Tai Sin District (with photos)

    The Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC, visited the Wong Tai Sin District today (September 21) to get firsthand information on the districtˇ¦s latest developments, including its elderly and youth services, as well as law and order issues.

     The first leg of the visit was at the Sheng Kung Hui Chuk Yuen Martin District Elderly Community Centre where Mr Wong was briefed on its diversified services. He learned that the centre had more than 1,000 members. More than 200 of the nearly 900 volunteers at the centre are elderly people aged 60 and above.

     Following a tour of the Cantonese Opera and computer classes in the centre, Mr Wong enjoyed a tea gathering with elderly people to learn more about their way of life and need for services.

     Mr Wong then proceeded to Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Wang Tau Hom Youth Space for Participation, Opportunities and Training (SPOT) which provides district youth with a whole range of supporting services and learning opportunities such as leadership training, hotline, online counselling, further study and career services.

     Mr Wong also met members of Wong Tai Sin District Fight Crime Committee. He was briefed on law and order issues with its members were concerned and listened to their views. As the Vice-chairman of the Fight Crime Committee, he also thanked members for their valuable opinions.
