New streaming arrangements for cross-boundary private vehicles at the Lok Ma Chau Control Point should mean smoother vehicle traffic.
An Immigration spokesman said that from tomorrow (September 21), No 2, 3 and 4 kiosks in the Lok Ma Chau Control Point would be open during peak periods for exclusive use of private cars with only Hong Kong residents. "Private cars with non-Hong Kong residents can make use of No 13 to 16 kiosks for visitor vehicles for immigration clearance."
The above new arrangements will be introduced during the peak period from 7am to 10pm daily. During other periods, drivers of private cars are advised to follow the relevant signage or the directions of police officers on site for immigration clearance.
At the same time, the southbound waiting lanes at the Lok Ma Chau Control Point for private cars with non-Hong Kong residents will also be widened to tie in with the new streaming arrangements. The new arrangements will help private cars avoid entering the wrong lanes, enabling a more orderly traffic flow for private cars waiting for clearance.
"The new measures will be on a trial run and their effectiveness will be reviewed in due course," the spokesman said.
