Tsuen Wan Magistrates¡¦ Courts today (September 19) ordered a man to do 240 hours of community service for dumping litter in public place.
The man threw a cigarette butt on the pavement in Chuen Lung Street, Tsuen Wan, on June 9, and then refused to co-operate with Food and Environmental Hygiene Department officers when they stopped him and asked for his personal particulars for completion of a fixed penalty notice. He was arrested with Police assistance.
The man was also fined $4,000 for failure to provide personal particulars and proof of identity for inspection.
A department spokesman reminded people to observe public hygiene regulations.
"Littering offenders should co-operate with law-enforcement officers who are empowered to issue Fixed Penalty Notices for violation of public hygiene laws," he said.
