The Legislative Council Subcommittee to Study the Subject of Combating Poverty arrived in Madrid on Sunday (September 16) to begin its six-day overseas duty visit to Spain and the United Kingdom. The purpose of the visit is to better study the experience of the development of social enterprise in these countries.
On its first day of visit to Madrid (September 17), the delegation met representatives of the Public Employment Service to receive a briefing on employment policies regarding groups at risk in Spain. Members also visited the Spanish National Organisation of the Blind (ONCE Group) at their Territorial Delegation (Headquarters) in Madrid. The ONCE Group is a not-for profit organisation holding 15 social enterprises.
The four-member delegation is led by Hon Frederick Fung Kin-kee, Chairman of the Subcommittee. Other members are Hon Leung Yiu-chung, Hon Leung Kwok-hung and Dr Hon Fernando Cheung Chiu-hung.
