Food premises ordered to close
******************************

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (September 17) ordered the temporary closure of two cooked food stalls in Shatin for thorough cleaning and disinfection.

The FEHD was informed by the Department of Health of three suspected food poisoning outbreaks involving 17 people related to two cooked food stalls at Nos 3 and 5 Cooked Food Pavilion, Wo Che Estate, Shatin.

"As the food poisoning outbreaks show signs of continuating, there are epidemiological grounds to support the temporary closure of the food premises for thorough cleaning and disinfection," a spokesman for the department said.

The food premises will remain closed until the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene is fully satisfied that the immediate health hazards on the premises have been eliminated.

Under the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, the director is empowered to quickly close premises that pose an immediate health hazard to the public.
