The Hong Kong Arts Development Council's (HKADC) nomination exercise 2007 has entered the final two weeks of electioneering. To enable voters to learn more about the candidates, a forum will be held on Saturday (September 15) for candidates to present their platforms and to answer questions from voters. Nineteen candidates standing for nomination will attend. Interested parties are welcome to participate.
The Candidate Forum will be held from 10am to 5pm in the Lecture Hall, Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, Kowloon Park. Seats for four of the 10 arts interests (Arts Administration, Arts Education, Drama and Film Arts) are uncontested and no dedicated candidate forum sessions for these arts interests will be arranged at the forum. Candidate forum sessions for the six contested arts interests (Arts Criticism, Dance, Literary Arts, Music, Visual Arts and Chinese Opera (Xiqu) will be as follows:
10am to 10.30am Arts Criticism
10.30am to 11.30am Dance
11.30am to noon Literary Arts
Noon to 1pm Music
2.30pm to 3pm Visual Arts
3pm to 3.35pm Xiqu (Chinese Opera)
(Each session above includes: 1. Candidate Platform Presentation; 2. Question and answer session with the floor; 3. Debating session among the candidates of the respective arts interests)
3.50pm to 5pm Question and Answer Session for Candidates
Maximum three minutes for each candidate in each segment.

Polling for the 2007 HKADC Nomination Exercise is scheduled to take place from September 28 to 30. Following the previous nomination exercises, a "cross-interest voting" system will be adopted this year. Voters from all the 10 arts interests may cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in the six contested arts interests.
Since its establishment as a statutory body in June, 1995, there have been HKADC nomination exercises for the arts interest representatives held in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2004 with this year marking the sixth such occasion.
