Primary School Profiles 2007 released
*************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation:

The Committee on Home-School Co-operation (CHSC) today (September 10) released the cyber version (in Chinese and English) of the Primary School Profiles 2007.  Meanwhile, the printed version (in Chinese) will be delivered to kindergartens and kindergarten/child care centres for distribution to parents with children at K3 level in the current school year.

The Primary School Profiles cover basic information of more than 500 local primary schools, such as teaching staff information, school facilities, class structure, school life, extra-curricular activities and school characteristics.  The information was provided by individual schools as at April, 2007.

In addition to comprehensive school information, the profiles also depict the "Three Steps in Choosing a Primary School" to facilitate parents to make informed choice of primary schools.

The cyber version of the profiles enables schools to update their information on the web direct, whenever necessary, and hence parents can obtain the most up-to-date school information. The number of browsers is around 1.6 million, whereas the number of page view is nearly two million per year.  This reflects the popularity of the cyber version.

Parents of children who will study at Primary One level in September, 2008, will receive the printed version of the profiles for the district in which they live through their respective kindergartens or kindergarten/child care centres.  For children not attending kindergartens or kindergarten/child care centres, their parents may obtain the printed version from the Regional Education Offices and the School Places Allocation Section of the Education Bureau (EDB).

Besides, each kindergarten and kindergarten/child care centre will be provided with two full sets of the printed version of the profiles for parents' reference on schools of other districts.

For the cyber version, the public may visit the CHSC homepage at http://chsc.edb.hkedcity.net or the on-line Profiles at http://chsc.edb.hkedcity.net/primary/.  Copies of the printed version will be available at District Offices, public libraries, Regional Education Offices and the Central Resources Centre of EDB in mid-September.

For enquiries about the Profiles, please call EDB's Regional Education Offices (Hong Kong: 2863 4646; Kowloon: 3698 4108; New Territories East: 2639 4876; and New Territories West: 2437 7272) or the CHSC Secretariat (3698 4379 or 3698 4376).
